KARACHI: Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Nadeem Nusrat on Monday refuted allegations hurled at his party and termed them a continuity of decades’ old “propaganda”
“Charge sheet against MQM is being present through media,” Nusrat said while addressing his party workers through video link. “Calling MQM the enemy of state and anti-Altaf Hussain talks are nothing more than propaganda.”
The MQM stalwart said that accusing his party by distorting facts was injustice and should be stopped. “Separating facts from propaganda is necessary to face any challenge,” he told his party workers.
Nusrat alleged that loyalties of MQM workers were being “forcefully” changed to create space for new entrants.
The MQM leader’s hint was directed at the former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal.
Kamal, on his return to the city last month laid foundation of a new party, Pak Sarzameen (PSP), which was being seen as a direct challenge to the MQM.
Kamal – once a senior MQM leader and said to be one of the Altaf Hussain’s chosen men – has been critical of the MQM supremo of assigning ‘target-killing’ tasks to party workers and putting them on the wrong path.
MQM defections are mounting as senior leaders and workers continue to jump on Kamal’s bandwagon.
