Chairman NAB presents annual report to CJP

Earlier today, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry called on Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali at his chambers in the Supreme Court. The Nab chairman presented the bureau's annual report to the honourable chief justice.

According to sources, the NAB chairman discussed important issues pertaining to corruption cases with the chief justice.

The meeting followed reports that the government has decided to form a judicial commission to probe revelations in the Panama Papers, a massive leak of tax documents from a law firm managing offshore shell companies in the tax haven of Panama.

Sources say the government has decided to write a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for constituting a judicial commission to probe allegations against Pakistanis, including the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who have been named in the Panama Papers as owning offshore companies.

Prime Minister Sharif is expected to address the nation tonight in which, sources say, he will make a formal announcement regarding the commission.
