KARACHI: Two SHOs have been suspended from their posts in an effort to bring all police officials involved in unlawful activities after infamous Lyari gangster Uzair Jan Baloch revealed alleged links with them during his interrogation.
SHO Shah Faisal Colony Babar Hameed and SHO Brigade Haji Sanaullah were dismissed from their posts as action against those named by Baloch kicked off by the Sindh Police, Geo News reported on Sunday.
Other SHOs including Abid Tanoli, Javed Baloch, Imtiaz Tanoli are also facing the investigation, police officials told Geo News, adding that a probe committee comprising of SP Sadar Dr Samiullah Soomro, SP City Shehla Qureshi and the ASP Clifton, has also been formed in this regard.
Assistance from the Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau (IB) will also be sought in the investigation, they added.
Meanwhile, Uzair Baloch has been arrested in connection with nine more cases lodged against him.
Speaking to Geo News, SSP Investigations Abid Hussain Qaimkhani said that production orders for Baloch’s arrest have been issued in connection with four FIRs lodge in Kalakot and Maripur Police Stations. An approval for investigation against him in three more cases has also been received, he added.
According to the SSP Investigations, further interrogation from Uzair Baloch will take place at the Central Jail here.
Uzair Baloch has been named in six more cases following his confession in front of the joint investigation team (JIT) formed to probe allegations against the Lyari gang-war chief. The FIRs of the cases have been lodged at Kalakot, Kharadar, Maripur and Eidgah police stations.
