ISLAMABAD: A bullet proof vehicle has been provided to Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza on her application that was submitted to the Sindh government eight years back when she received threats from the terrorist elements for opposing them.
Talking to The News, Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza said she submitted the application to the provincial government after 2008 general elections for provision of a bullet proof vehicle as she was receiving threatening phone calls from some elements.
“The provincial government informed me about approval of my application some days ago and now a bullet proof vehicle (Fortuner) has been handed over to me,’’ she said. She said provision of bullet proof vehicles is often criticized but she thinks that there are genuine threats to the politicians from the terrorist elements. She said: “Slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto opposed the terrorist elements and sacrificed her life for future of our country.’’
