NAB gets 14-day remand of Former Balochistan Finance Advisor Langov

QUETTA: An accountability court remanded Former Finance Adviser to the Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Khalid Langov for 14 days in NAB custody.

NAB officials arrested Langov from outside the Balochistan High Court, where he had appeared on Wednesday for the hearing of a pre-arrest bail plea in relation to the ongoing investigation of Balochistan secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani’s corruption scandal.

He was arrested as he was exiting the court premises after the BHC bench dismissed his plea.

Speaking to reporters, the Langov's advocate said that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had ordered that his client could not be arrested till May 29.

Earlier on May 17, the IHC had granted protective bail of 12 days to former Balochistan finance adviser Mir Khalid Langov.

Earlier this month, Langov said he was stepping down from his post to aid transparent investigations after a huge amount of the ill-gotten money was recovered from the residence of the provincial finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani.

NAB had recovered more than Rs730 million from Raisani’s residence. He has been accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the local government development funds.
