ISLAMABAD: Top leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz set off for Britain today to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is recuperating from a heart surgery in London.
Senator Mushahidullah Khan, Information Minister Pervez Rashid, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affair Tariq Fatemi and senior leader Fawad Hassan set off for London from Islamabad.
The prime minister has called them for a briefing over the political situation in the country.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Tahir ul Qadri returned to Pakistan from Canada and held a rally at Lahore’s Mall Road on Friday, to mark two years of the Model Town tragedy.
He demanded that the victims get justice and their cases tried in military courts. He announced another sit-in if his demands were not met.
A 120-day sit-in by Tahir ul Qadri and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 2014 had created pressure on the prime minister to resign.
On the other hand a joint opposition which includes PTI, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Pakistan People’s Party are demanding trial of the prime minister for his family’s alleged offshore companies named in the Panama Papers.
