LAHORE: The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) rescued a 12-year-old girl from a residence in Johar Town, Lahore on Thursday.
According to CPWB officials the young girl, a maid servant has torture marks on her body which were allegedly inflicted by the lady of the house. The CPWB has registered a complaint against the lady in question and her husband.
The young girl a resident of Sargodha had been employed at the residence of the government officer for the last 7 months for a meager salary of Rs. 5000 per month.
According to the CPWB, the young girl was beaten with a steel hangar for snatching a book from the employer’s child. Due to the torture her eyes were swollen and she bore torture marks on her hands and on her head, CPWB officials confirmed.
Speaking to Geo News, the young girl revealed, she had only taken the book away from the child because she was instructed to bathe the child. She added, that her employers would beat her often.
Following the CPWB’s complaint, the police registered a case and has arrested the young girl’s employer Irfan who is an 18-grade government official.
