COAS meets Czech counterpart, discusses defense cooperation

PRAGUE: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif met with Chief of General Staff and the Deputy Defense Minister of the Czech Republic during a day-long visit to the country’s capital on Wednesday.

The military and civilian leaders discussed Issues of mutual interest, military-to-military and defense cooperation during their meeting, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to DG ISPR Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa, the Czech CGS and Deputy Defense Minister expressed special interest in the training of their officers by the Pakistan Army.

Upon arrival, Gen Raheel Sharif was presented with the guard of honour, said the DG ISPR.

On Tuesday, General Raheel Sharif met with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and also held an interactive session in Koerber Foundation, a renowned German think tank in Berlin.

During the session, the COAS explained in detail the challenges faced by Pakistan and its contribution towards peace and stability in the region.

He said that Pakistan is successfully closing up to the conclusive phase of Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
