Six suspected militants killed in Okara shootout

OKARA: Secuirty forces on Wednesday conducted a joint raid in a village in Okara, killing six suspected militants, police said.

Police and agencies on a tip-off about the presence of suspected militants, raided Okara’s Chak No. 28/2-R. Militants holed up inside a house opened fire on the police resulting in a shootout, police said.

Two policemen were injured during the crossfire, following which the personnel called for reinforcements.

During the raid, a loud explosion occurred in the house due to which its roof gave away.

Exchange of fire between police and the suspects continued for two hours.

Security personnel began a search operation and found bodies of the six militants in the house.

Police also recovered a huge cache of advanced weapons and a map of the DPO office from the suspects’ possession.

After the incident, police began search for the owner of the house who had rented the place to the suspects.
