HYDERABAD: Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat, considered the sex symbol of the film industry, is in the city to promote her much awaited film `Hisss’, set to for a global release on October 22.
Mallika who has known to kiss her way to Box office success with her film ‘Murder’, now hopes her ‘Hisss’ will work too.
Talking to media persons during the film promotion campaign held at a five star hotel on Saturday, Mallika Sherawat revealed that the dubbed versions of the movie would be released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada languages apart from English and Hindi.
Chadalavada Srinivas, who is the producer, financier as well as the distributor is releasing the film under Sri Tirumala Tirupathi Venkateswara Films banner.
The actress revealed is a revenge story with a difference. Mallika said she portrays the role of a half cobra, half human creature and has worn an elaborate snake-suit that restricts her natural movement.
She said “Hisss is a Bollywood movie with Hollywood technicians. In Indian mythology, the snakes are given a prominent place and treated as gods and worshipped. Women pray to snakes seeking blessings for having children.”
Mallika said she had played the role of Nagin (female snake) in Hisss. The last time any prominent actress portrayed a Nagin on screen was 24 years ago in a film ‘Nagin’ where Sridevi hissed her way to box office success.
She hoped that the film would receive good response in Andhra Pradesh also. She said that she would be willing to act in Telugu movies if any good script comes her way.
“Without hard work nothing is possible. With hard work only we can achieve anything” she said. Reacting on her beauty, Mallika said she practices regularly yoga and meditation for maintaining balance physically and mentally and eats only vegetarian food only.
The film is directed by Jennifer Lynch. It also stars Irfaan Khan as a police officer and Jeff Doucette as an American George. Music is rendered by Anu Mallik for all versions in Indian languages. Mallika Sherawat makes her debut as playback singer alongside Julian Lennon.
