KARACHI: Rangers on Wednesday night gunned down four 'terrorists' during a targeted operation in Karachi, said a spokesman for the paramilitary force.
"Paramilitary personnel conducted a targeted raid in Manghopir Khairabad area, during which four terrorists were killed," said a spokesman for Pakistan Rangers Sindh. "Rangers personnel also recovered weapons from the possession of these terrorists."
"The operation was conducted on a tip-off that the terrorists were planning an attack on Independence Day," he added.
Meanwhile, police also rounded up five suspects from Bheempura and Pirabad, and seized weapons from them.
Search operations in a number of areas by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) also continued on Wednesday night.
Officials questioned a number of people and verified their identities during the raids, while a few suspects were also detained.
