Australian cricketer Brett Lee stars in Indian rom-com

Who would have thought a fast bowler would consider a career in movies? Australian cricketer Brett Lee is all set to release a Bollywood rom-com this month.

Cricket legend Brett Lee plays an English teacher who falls in love with an Indian single mother Tanishtha Chatterjee in the movie Unindian.

Shot in Sydney and directed by Anupam Sharma the movie will open across 300 screens across the sub-continent after a red carpet premier on August 19.

In an interview to BBC Lee said that he had always been interested in acting.

"On the cricket field I'm totally different on the field to what I am off the field. It came naturally to be in front of the camera,” he told BBC.

Lee has appeared in a few Indian commercials. He had also developed connections in Bollywood while playing for the Indian Premier League in teams owned by Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta.

Lee was offered the role for £2.6 million.

"He showed me the script, which I loved - an Australian film with a bit of Bollywood flavour, a bit of Bollywood culture and beautiful message through the film - that love has no boundaries."

Chaterjee plays a single Indian mother whose family is forcing her to find an Indian husband. The two fall in love.

Speaking about Lee, Chaterjee said, “"Very, very funny when the camera's not rolling. Very, very funny when the camera is rolling."

The movie was released in Australia last year.
