KARACHI: The Sindh government gave medicines to 17 metropolitan hospitals after a gap of two years.
Senior Director Health Services KMC Dr Muhammad Ali Abbasi confirmed that the Sindh government had released Rs170 million for the first quarter of fiscal year to purchase medicines and medical supplies for KMC hospital.
For the distribution of the medicines KMC has arranged a program at Nazir Hussain Kidney Center where 17 medical superintendents of the hospital were given medicines to their respective hospital.
The funds are expected to bring relief to thousands of patients who visit public hospitals every day.
In the absence of funds these patients were turned away or asked to pay for medicines, which were supposed to be supplied free of cost.
The stall in funds had been caused due to political pressures, officials said.
