JAMRUD: Levies and Khasadar forces personnel on Friday arrested four alleged suicide bombers from Khyber Agency’s Jamrud Tehsil.
In the search operation by the security forces in the Shaks area, five suicide jackets were also reportedly recovered from the suspects’ possession.
The political administration claimed that the suspects were planning attack on the Independence Day.
Assistant Political agent Ziaullah Marwat in a press briefing said that the terrorists wanted to cause destruction on a large scale.
He said that the terrorists are undergoing investigation, adding that the administration is not oblivious to its duties.
Search operations and raids all over the country have gained momentum after the recent wave of terrorist activities in Balochistan and also due to the upcoming Independence Day on August 14.
Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Thursday night apprehended over 20 suspects in Karachi alone, while 70 others were held in Punjab for not having identification documents.
Security has been beefed up all around the country in wake of two bomb attacks within a week in Quetta. The first attack had killed at least 73 people, while yesterday’s attack had injured 13.
