Three 'terrorists' killed in Quetta gunbattle with FC: sources

QUETTA: Three 'terrorists' were killed in Quetta after an exchange of fire with Frontier Corps (FC) personnel late on Friday night, security sources said.

"The incident occurred in Saryab area when terrorists opened fired at FC personnel. They also hurled a hand grenade on security men," security sources said Friday.

However, three militants were killed in retaliation by the paramilitary force. Two security men were also wounded in the fire exchange.

The gunbattle lasted for some time prompting the officials to call in reinforcements.

The identities of the deceased terrorists are yet to be ascertained.

Earlier this week, a deadly suicide bombing at Quetta's Civil Hospital had left at least 70 people dead and wounded over 110 others.

On Thursday, another roadside explosive device targeted the vehicle of a federal Sharia court’s judge. The incident injured 13 people including a policeman.

Monday's bombing at the hospital had prompted a call by the army chief for combing operations against terrorists and their sleeper cells across the country.

Since then, search operations are continued in various cities and the security and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) are being seen going after miscreants with a renewed vigour.
