SUKKUR: Independence Day celebrations turned sour on Sunday when at least one person was killed and over a hundred were injured in accidents related to one wheeling.
Over a 100 injured persons mostly young boys were brought to the Sukkur Civil Hospital on Sunday, a duty officer said.
Emergency was declared at Civil Hospital as injured poured in throughout the day.
In Karachi at least three young men were killed, while around 21 people were brought to different hospitals with bullet injuries cause by celebratory fire.
Twenty-two-year-old Rohail, son of Iqbal, was killed after he was hit by a stray bullet while passing through the Rashid Minhas road, in block 19 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. His body was taken to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
Twenty-five-year-old Zahid, son of Abdul Malik, died after being hit by a stray bullet while he was standing outside his Taroo Lane residence situated in Baloch Para.
Usman Ghani, 25, was hit by a stray bullet while he was walking through the Banaras Colony bridge, within the jurisdiction of the Pirabad police station.
According to police the deceased was a drug addict and while it seemed that the man was killed by hit by a stray bullet, the police said it would investigate the likelihood of it being an incident of targeted killing.
