DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Doctors in D.I. Khan turned what would have been routine surgeries into a unique record when they carried out 16 operations in the torch light of mobile phones, Geo News reported.
With no electricity at DHQ Hospital and generators out of order, there was no option but to do the unthinkable, claimed surgeon Dr Farooq.
“The surgeries needed to be carried out. So we performed 16 surgeries in the torch light of the phones,” said surgeon Dr Farooq.
Dr Farooq added that due to weather conditions the generator at the hospital was turning on and off and apart from him other staff were also witness to this.
When Geo News contacted District Medical Superintendent (DMS) Fareedullah, he said it was not possible for 16 operations to be carried out in such a manner. He added that these pictures were taken by Dr Farooq during a time when the generator was off.
