KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) prominent leader and Member Sindh Assembly Imtiaz Shaikh on Thursday joined Pakistan People People’s Party (PPP) after differences with a party leader.
Shaikh made the final call after meeting with PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, his spokesman said.
Shaikh, who is also Special Assistant to Prime Minister, is considered one of the most prominent leaders of PMLF.
He has also served as secretary to former Chief Minister Sindh Jam Sadiq and was regarded as a strong opponent of PPP.
According to sources, Shaikh would soon resign from his membership of Sindh Assembly.
They said that the attitude of federal minister Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi was the cause behind Shaikh’s departure from PMLF.
They further said that Imtiaz Shaikh on several occasions had complained about Rashidi to Pir Pagara, the spiritual leader of Hurs and president of the party.
