KARACHI: Karachi returned to normalcy and there was calm on Tuesday morning following Rangers’ overnight crackdown on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the wake of yesterday's violent protests.
Rangers raided MQM offices across Karachi overnight and sealed MQM sector offices in Lyari, Ranchor Line, Burns Road and PIB Colony.
Society, Mehmoodabad, Defense, Gulbahar and Nazimabad sector offices were also locked down.
Party offices were also sealed in New Karachi, Gulshan Iqbal, Surjani Town, Gulistan e Jauhar, Azizabad, Liaquatabad and Malir.
It was further said that more than 50 activists and office-bearers were nabbed during the raids.
Following overnight raids, residents were encouraged by the Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and police chief Mushtaq Maher to continue their day as normal.
As the sun rose on the metropolis there was peace in the city. Petrol and CNG stations remained open across the city and public transport plying on roads as usual. Shops were also open in all areas of the city and there were no reports of schools being closed.
Police and Rangers were seen across the city in a bid to prevent any untoward incident.
The situation in Hyderabad, Sukkur along with cities of interior Sindh was also normal with all educational institutions open and public transport on roads.
