ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervez Rashid condemned the attack on media outlets in Karachi and said that the criminals will not be forgiven at any cost.
He also called for the British government to arrest MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
MQM party workers took to the streets yesterday after Altaf Huissain, in an address from London, incited them to storm media outlets and chant anti-Pakistan slogans.
In violent protests that ensued, party workers ransacked the offices of ARY News and damaged a mobile satellite van.
At least one person, reportedly injured in the firing near Zainab market, succumbed to his wounds at the hospital after the violence. Two other people sustained injuries during the violent attacks in which around 2,000 party workers participated.
Karachi however returned to normalcy on Tuesday morning following Rangers’ overnight crackdown on MQM. Rangers raided MQM offices across Karachi and sealed sector offices in Lyari, Ranchor Line, Burns Road, PIB Colony, Society, Mehmoodabad, Defense, Gulbahar and Nazimabad.
Party offices were also sealed in New Karachi, Gulshan Iqbal, Surjani Town, Gulistan e Jauhar, Azizabad, Liaquatabad and Malir.
It was further said that more than 50 activists and office-bearers were nabbed during the raids.
