ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif in a statement issued on Tuesday said there was no option left but to distance himself from MQM chief Altaf Hussain, whose inflammatory speech on Monday incited party workers to attack media houses in Karachi.
Barrister Saif condemned the party chief’s anti-Pakistan speech and the ensuing violence that left one dead and at least eight injured yesterday.
“We are the children of people who created Pakistan. Our ancestors gave huge sacrifices to create this country,” he said.
Altaf Hussain’s speech, delivered at Karachi Press Club to participants of the hunger strike organized by MQM, incited party workers to take to the streets yesterday, ransack ARY News’ office, vandalize property, carry out arson and pelt stones at police.
