Curfew reimposed in Srinagar, Pulwama amid protest rallies in IOK

KARACHI/SRINAGAR: More than 50 days have passed, yet no drop has been observed in Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir, while the authorities reimposed curfew in Srinagar and Pulwama on Tuesday after a brief hiatus.

Kashmiris in the occupied territory have been observing a strike on the call of Hurriyet leadership till September 1. Educational institutes and trade centers remained close on Tuesday, and transport off the roads.

Acute shortage of food and medicines has also been adding to the woes of the people already at the mercy of Indian police and paramilitary forces, who regularly abuse them and ransack their properties.

Protest rallies and demonstrations, however, continued on Tuesday as well against illegal occupation of the valley by Indian forces. A large number of masses took to streets in almost every part of the territory, who chanted anti-India and pro-independence slogans.

Over 100 people were reported injured due to the use of brute force by Indian personnel on participants of rallies in Srinagar, Islamabad, Kulgam, Bandipura and Baramulla districts.

Hospital authorities confirmed that a number of injured received pallet wounds.
