ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali took notice of the murder of Barrister Fahad Malik who was killed in Islamabad earlier this month.
According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court public relations officer, the notice was taken on a note of the Registrar which detailed the incident in which Barrister Fahad Malik lost his life.
The Registrar’s note also stated that the shooting “could have been averted if the vehicles had been checked and searched properly by the Islamabad Police before the commission of crime.”
The PRO’s statement further outlines the failure of the police to have anticipated a possible “breach of peace” and should have taken “precautionary measures” further pointing out the “lethargic attitude of the police department” due to which the accused was able to secure interim bail – which was later cancelled and the accused handed over to the police on remand.
In light of “the lack of proper security arrangements by the administration constitutes violation of fundamental right to life and liberty which has been guaranteed under Article 9 of the Constitution” the Chief Justice of Pakistan has summoned a report from the Inspector General of Police, Islamabad in one week, the statement concluded.
