KARACHI:  38-year-old Abdul Jabbar a resident of Kamber Shadad Kot a rural area in Sindh province weighs 490 kilograms.

Executive Director Jinnah Hospital Karachi, Professor Anesuddin Bhatti said Abdul Jabbar has morbid obesity, is bedridden and has shortness of breath with pressure ulcer on his legs. Professor Bhatti states that these issues have been a great cause of concern in Abdul Jabbar’s life.  

Abdul Jabbar was shifted last week from Larkana Civil Hospital to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center on the directives of Health Minister Sikander Ali Mehndro.  

Abdul Jabbar had a obesity issue but from last the two months his obesity became severe and its changed into morbid obesity which in medical terms is known as pickwickian syndrome. Abdul Jabbar is unable to move his hands, legs or even his head.  Professor Bhatti adds that Abdul Jabbar has become paralysed.

A seven member medical board which includes chest, cardiac, orthopedic, medicine and other experts has decided to do a bariatric surgery to save the life of Abdul Jabbar.
