Pakistanis in New York demand end to MQM founder's speeches

NEW YORK: Members of the Pakistani community in New York held a protest demonstration against founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) outside the British Consulate here on Friday.

The participants called on the British government to end backing of anti-Pakistan tirades on its soil. They carried placards with slogans against the MQM supremo.

The protesting members of the Pakistani community demanded for putting an end to anti-Pakistan and terrorist activities of the MQM founder.

A telephonic address to a hunger strike camp by the MQM founder on August 22 suffered a backlash after it charged the party activists to attack media outlets and vandalise public property in Karachi.

The incidents of violence claimed life of a man and left eight others wounded.

It triggered a crackdown on the party by the law enforcement agencies resulting in arrest of senior party leaders, pulling down and sealing of offices in different cities.

More than 30 party offices have so far been razed and over 200 sealed in different areas of Karachi alone, in the crackdown.
