Mardan suicide bomber was an Afghan, investigation report reveals

MARDAN: The city is in a somber mood—reeling from an attack at a courthouse a day ago which took away 13 lives.

The otherwise swarming bazaars bear a deserted look. Heavy police contingents guard the district court and schools.

Lawyers in Mardan have boycotted the courts after a strike call by the Peshawar Bar Council. Traders have also announced a shutter down.

Funeral prayers for the victims of the twin blasts were held.

Six of the injured are under treatment at the Mardan Medical Complex while 8 injured are admitted at the District Headquarter Hospital.

Suicide bomber was an Afghan: investigation

Police has prepared an investigation report of the incident. According to details the suicide bomber belonged to Afghanistan. He was aged between 30 and 35.

The suicide attacker came on foot. He had a grenade and was wearing an 8 kilogram suicide jacket, the report said.

His body parts have been sent for a DNA test, it said.

At least 13 were killed and 35 injured when two bomb blasts hit the District Courts here on Friday.  Two policemen and four lawyers were among those killed in the attack.
