Fitness key to Younis Khan’s success

BIRMINGHAM:  Former test captain, Younis Khan who scored a match winning 218 against England at the fourth Oval  test told Geo News sports show ‘SCORE’ that his next target is to reach 10,000 test runs milestone.

Younis Khan said it would indeed be the biggest accomplishment in his career but he wasn't sure whether he would really be able to do so. Younis Khan has played 108 test matches and scored 9,456 runs with 53.72 average.

The former captain also says that Pakistan played its first test in 1952 but unfortunately no Pakistani batsman has yet completed 10,000 test runs but on the other side Sri Lanka during its brief test history of not more than 40 years, has two batsmen Kumar Sangakara (12400) and Mahela Jayawardene (11814) cross 10,000 test runs.

Younis added that it is his dream to score 10,000 test runs, at the same time he thinks it requires a lot of hard work specially to maintain fitness. Younis wished that more Pakistani batsmen cross this 10,000 runs milestone.

Answering a question on ODI team's pathetic performance the former captain says it is difficult time for the ODI team as our people really like T20 and ODI format.  If Team Pakistan plays qualifying round of 2019 World Cup then it would be very painful for every Pakistani.
