Constantly being in the limelight is no easy task and certainly has its drawbacks. One actress’s biography had some revelations that shook the whole industry and left people wondering if maybe the price of fame is worth it.

Yesteryear actress, Rekha has always managed to be in the headlines for her many controversies regarding her personal life making her the media’s favorite controversy child. However, Rekha has decided to finally vent out and bare it all in her biography “Rekha: The Untold Story” which includes the hardships she faced for being a newcomer to in this industry.

Rekha and her marriages have always sparked interest not only amongst her fans but amongst her Bollywood costars as well. In her book, she reveals how her mother-in-law and her husband Vinod Mehra kept dominating her and would beat her. She describes how her mother-in-law beat Rekha with chappals outside their home which shook up the whole media at that time. Rekha talks about how she finally decided to fight back.

Her journey as a newcomer was not easy and she had to face many hurdles along the way. One such incident in the book talks about how when Rekha was shooting for debut film Anjana Safar, actor Biswajeet Chatterjee had molested her in lieu of shooting a scene while the whole crew cheered him on. She recalls how devastated and helpless she had felt at that time.

It is no secret that Rekha and her chemistry with her costar Amitabh Bachan till now is still talked about. She also reveals how Jaya had stopped Amitabh from working with her and also accused her of how she had destroyed the respectability of the ‘Bachan’ family.

She talks about how the Bollywood industry had condemned her and labelled her as “black widow”, a “man eater” and a “marriage breaker” after reports of her affair with Jeetendra, Dharmendra Singh Deol and Sunil Dutt started making rounds. Not only that, after her third husband, Mukesh Agarwal had hung himself from the ceiling using her dupatta, it was found that he had been suffering from chronic depression but that did not stop actors, friends and people around the world accusing her of “witchcraft”.

The book reveals how actor Anupam Kher had called her a national vamp and director Subhash Ghai had accused her of putting a blot on the face of the film industry.
