MQM to challenge PS-127 results: sources

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to challenge election results of PS-127, sources have informed Geo News.

The party is expected to file an appeal in the election tribunal seeking verification from 51 polling stations. The MQM will call for recounting of votes from rural polling stations and verification of thumbprints.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) candidate Ghulam Murtaza Baloch clinched the PS-127 seat of Sindh Assembly, Karachi. MQM’s Wassem Ahmed was the runner-up by a margin of approximately 6,000 votes.

After unofficial results were announced, MQM leader Farooq Sattar alleged the election was rigged and vowed to approach the election tribunal and courts.
