Ex-PAT leader alleges Qadri of organising a Daesh-like group

KARACHI: An ex-leader of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Friday alleged Dr. Tahirul Qadri of organising a fanatic group that aims to seize control of the country like Daesh (Islamic State).

Amir Fareed Koreja, former general secretary of PAT, alleged Qadri of organising a fanatic group within his party that aims to capture power from the elected government like the way Daesh has been striving to do (in Iraq and Syria).

Speaking in Geo News' program 'Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath', he also advised Imran Khan to 'remain cautious'.

Koreja, who remained close to Dr. Tahirul Qadri during what many say controversial sit-ins in Islamabad in 2014, alleged that he was being abused and issued life threats since the time he severed ties with his party.

"They are calling me a traitor. I am being abused, threatened for life," he claimed, adding that he could show the text messages on his phone.

Earlier on Friday, PAT chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri said that there was a dire need of an operation in Punjab, adding that the country’s integrity is in danger.

Holding a news conference at Minhajul Quran Secretariat, he said that Rangers and Army should conduct a joint operation in the province, alleged that 300 Indian agents were working in the sugar mills of Sharif brothers.

He was responded by the MD of Sharif Group of Industries, Yousaf Abbas Sharif, who said that not a single Indian is working in Sharif family sugar mill.

In a statement, Yousaf Abbas Sharif said the mill was established in 1992 and at present has over 1,100 employees, all Pakistanis.

Slamming Qadri as a proven liar, he vowed that the PAT chief would be sent a defamation notice and taken to court.
