KARACHI:  Over 1,065 people have been infected by the Dengue virus in the metropolis while 93 cases have been reported in several districts of Sindh.

According to Program Manager Dengue Prevention and Control Cell Dr Masood Solangi, children, women and the elderly are among those infected.  

Due to Eid-Ul-Azha, Dengue cases are on the rise due to non fumigation and cleanness issues in Karachi. 

The most affected areas of the Karachi are Gulshan Iqbal,North Karachi, Gulberg, Nazimabad, Saddar, Lines Area, Liaqatabad , Surjani and Lyari.

On the other hand Karachi Metropolitan and Municipal Corporation did not start the spray campaign to eradicate Dengue mosquito from the city.

According to the Senior Director Health Karachi Dr Shakoor Abbasi,  people can prevent Dengue by  cleaning their underground and over head tanks, use netting on windows to stop the Dengue mosquito and clear water if it's lying on the road or in the street and last but not least use mosquito repellent.
