KARACHI: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said on Sunday it was important to strengthen institutions for a stronger democracy and that a civilian government should be elected again in the next elections.
Raza Rabbani visited the Quaid’s Mausoleum on the 68th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah earlier today where he offered Fateha and laid floral wreaths at the founder’s grave.
Talking to the media on the occasion, the Senate Chairman said that Quaid-e-Azam’s speech serves as a roadmap for Pakistan and that the founder of the nation had envisioned a parliamentary country.
Raza Rabbani said that it was crucial that a civilian government be elected next time as well if democracy in the country is to be strengthened.
He declined to comment on the decision of the Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq but stressed that institutions needed to be strengthened for a stronger democracy.
Raza Rabbani also condemned Indian atrocities in the Indian-occupied Kashmir and the use of pellet guns by Indian forces in the region. He further called for world leaders to play their role in stopping human rights abuse in occupied Kashmir.
