RAWALPINDI: Wasim Akram and Brett Lee rolled into one? Lahore Qalandars just discovered a fast bowler who can bowl equally fast and accurately with BOTH arms.
Unbelievable but true; Yasir Jan is possibly the world’s only fast bowler who can bowl right and left-arm with equal pace, line and length.
This uniquely talented young man was discovered by Lahore Qalandars in their ‘Jazz Rising Stars’ trials currently underway in Rawalpindi. The program aims to promote grass root cricket in the country and select the best of the best for a chance to play in Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Yasir hails from Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and resides in Islamabad. Speaking to Geo News, Yasir said he has been bowling fast with both arms since childhood.
"I have practised bowling with both left and right arm all my life, I try to imitate every bowler I see," he said.
Lahore Qalandars coach and former Pakistan cricketer Aqib Javed said he has never come across such a bowler in his life. “This is the first time I have seen a bowler who can bowl fast with both arms,” he told Geo News.
Scores of youngsters took part in the second day of trials in Rawalpindi. Former cricketers Mudassar Nazar, Aijaz Ahmed and Aqib Javed are overlooking the trials and selecting the best bowlers and batsmen out of the participants.
Lahore Qalandars have completed trials in seven cities across Pakistan so far. A tournament will be held for players shortlisted from the trials, out of whom two top performers will be selected and given the chance to play for Lahore Qalandars in PSL. Rest of the players will play a series in Australia.
