KARACHI: Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar, who had handcuffed and detained Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan Leader Khawaja Izhar ul Hasan, saying that the SSP's method was wrong.

He said that if Rao Anwar is found at fault then he would be punished.

Murad Ali Shah said that the act of Khawaja Izharul Hasan’s arrest was wrong and after complete investigation of the incident, Rao Anwar would also get punished.

CM Sindh Murad transferred services of DIG East Kamran Fazal’s to the federal government, according to the spokesman CM Sindh.

The spokesman added that the MQM leader was arrested from Kamran Fazal’s zone.

The CM Sindh also ordered replacement of all Malir SHOs.

Khawaja Izharul Hasan was released after five hours of detainment.

The newly suspended SSP Malir while reacting to the news said “it is not a big deal, these are routine things in police.”

He said that the MQM leader was arrested under two cases.  The cases, 16/378 and 16/374, are registered in Site Superhighway police station.

The cases are registered under anti-terrorism and incitement for rebellion charges, he added.

The CM Sindh had earlier suspended SHO Sohrab Goth who had supervised a raid on his residence.

Khawaja Izhar told Geo News that policemen in plain clothes had searched his house. He added only women were present at home and that they were harassed.

The MQM Pakistan leader added that was not at home when the raid was carried out.

Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani condemned the attack saying that police should inform the speaker before conducting a raid at any assembly member's residence. "I came to know about the raid from the media."
