ISLAMABAD: A three member bench heard a suo moto case on Sheesha ban in the Supreme Court.

The Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali said that open violation of the Supreme Court order over the ban on Sheesha was going on.

Initially they [authorities] would take Rs 100,000 from Sheesha clubs in Islamabad now they are charging them Rs 500,000 every month,” the CJ said.

In Karachi at Boat Basin and DHA even today people are smoking Sheesha, he said.

After a court ban authorities are minting money, he added.

Justice Azmat Saeed said that it has been 10 years since the case was pending in the courts. "The federal government does not even know if importing Sheesha is benefiting the national exchequer or not. If importing Sheesha is minting profits, then why doesn’t the government also import cocaine and other drugs.”

He added that government is not concerned about the well being of the public.
