ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Friday said Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) claims of patriotism should be believed.

Khursheed Shah said that MQM has claimed time and again it is patriotic and this should convince the public. He added that the party founder does not appear to be in the right state of mind.

The opposition leader said that the person who should have had Article 6 imposed on him was allowed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to escape the law.

“The concept of field marshal is no more,” he added.

Khursheed Shah said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have consulted with politicians' here before heading off to the United Nations.

Discussing the escalating rift between Pakistan and India, the opposition leader said that India is interfering in Pakistan’s matters. India’s support for exiled Baloch leader Brahumdagh Bugti is the biggest proof of that, he said.

“If India wants to try us then we are ready for the challenge,” said Shah.

PM Nawaz Sharif, during his address at the UN General Assembly earlier this week, highlighted the atrocities by the Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir and called on world leaders to play their role in ending human rights violations in the region.  The prime minister also met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and handed him dossiers containing evidences of brutalities in Indian-occupied Kashmir by the Indian forces.
