KARACHI:  Sindh Sports Minister Mohammad Bux Maher has taken notice of a Geo News story which highlighted the plight of Allah Baksh, the Pakistani football star who went from international fame to abject poverty.

The sports minister announced Rs 100,000 for the former football star and employment for his son.

Allah Baksh who represented Pakistan in several international football tournaments in his youth, now parks cars as a security guard for a living. Old, frail and ill, he limps every day to work and back home.

Forced to live hand to mouth, Allah Bakhsh could not even afford a bed and had to struggle to sit on the floor. Supporting an ill wife and two daughters, he was barely making ends meet and blamed the state for neglecting its heroes.
