CJP chairs meeting on forming of JC
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry chaired a high-level meeting of the judges from the higher judiciary on the formation of Judicial Commission, Geo News reported Tuesday.

Former chief justice of Supreme Court Justice Mian Allah Nawaz and the former justice SC Ali Hussain Qazalbash were given the two-year membership of the commission.

The meeting was held in pursuance of the SC’s ruling regarding article 175 (A) of the constitution in connection with 18th amendment review case with the agenda of formation of Judicial Commission (JC) to be headed by CJP Ifitkhar Chaudhry.

During the meeting, CJP exchanged views with the senior most judges of SC justice Javaid Iqbal and justice Sakirullah Jan.

The meeting discussed issues as per article 175 (A) of constitution for appointment of higher judiciary.

According to the statement issued after the meeting was concluded, Federal Shariat Court together with four High Courts have been sent letters to take necessary actions due upon those for formation of Judicial Commission.

Pakistan Bar Council and Provincial Bar Councils have been asked for naming senior judges to be included in JC.
