KARACHI: Police overnight conducted a search operation in Jahanabad area of Karachi on a tip-off regarding the presence of Hameed alias Mullah Raju and his accomplices accused in firing incident at Sher Shah’s Kabari (Junk Yard) Market and arrested at least ten suspected people, Geo News reported Tuesday.
Police also recovered arms from their possession; however, the vital criminals escaped police operation.
According to SSP Liaquatabad Naveed Khawja, police overnight received a tip-off regarding the presence of Hameed alias Mullah Raju and his accomplices accused in firing incident at Sher Shah’s Kabari (Junk Yard) Market. The police at night raided the pinpointed place in Sher Shah’s Jahanabad area, ensuing an intermittent exchange of fire with the accused.
However, Mullah Raju escaped the police operation.
Talking to media at Pak Colony Police Station after sting operation, SSP Liaquatabad Naveed Khawja told arms were also recovered from the arrested criminals; however, no case has thus far been registered against them.
Investigation team is on the go probing.
The police officer said they previously undertook similar actions in Sher Shah and other areas; however, today’s sting operation was not pre-planned.
‘Instead, we went into operation on a tip-off,’ he added saying the operation was successful, as police succeeded in deploying police contingents in areas frequented by the criminals.
