KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly Standing Committee on Interior approved amendments in Sindh Arms Act 2013 and the amended Arms bill was passed in the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday.
Under the new legislation, the weapons dealer will be required to obtain thumb impression of the purchaser from the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA). The purchaser will be required to present national ID card and submit relevant documents to the seller before buying a weapon.
After the sale of the weapon, it will be mandatory for the dealer to test-fire the weapon twice and submit the bullet's shell to a forensic lab where the ballistic fingerprinting of the weapon will be kept for records.
Every weapon will have to be registered. The amended Sindh Arms Act will be immediately enforceable.
