COAS expresses desire to enhance relations with parliamentarians

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Thursday expressed the desire to enhance his relations with parliament members.

Members of Standing Committee on Defence Production visited GHQ on Thursday where they were briefed on the current security situation on borders, entire threat spectrum and operational preparedness of the Army.

The committee members headed by Chairman of the Standing Committee Khawaja Sohail Mansoor were welcomed by General Raheel Sharif.

COAS said that the armed forces want to share relevant documents on national security with parliament members so they can inform the world about the real situation in Pakistan when the members are on foreign visits.

Sources in the committee quoted General Raheel as saying that Karachi operation was not against any party but was against those involved in anti-state activities and terrorists.

They said that the committee chairman, who is also a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) member, Khawaja Sohail Mansoor and PPP member Shabir Bajarani admitted improvement in law and order situation in Karachi and also appreciated the role of armed forces in the city.

General Raheel further said that the operation Zarb-e-Azab succeeded because of complete political backing.
