ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court rejected a petition over an incident where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shireen Mazari was called a ‘tractor trolley’ by another parliamentarian on the floor of the National Assembly.

Justice Athar Minallah omitted the petition for lack of legal evidence. “The petitioner has not been able to prove anything. The judiciary can not interfere in parliamentary affairs,” the judge said.

He added that the judiciary can only interfere if there has been a violation of human rights. “Whatever happens on the floor of the assembly cannot be brought up in the court.”

The petitioner argued that parliamentarian Khawaja Asif had made personal remarks and insulted her in the parliament. The petitioner called for disciplinary action against Asif and cancellation of his membership from the parliament.

On June 8 Khawaja Asif called Shireen Mazari a “tractor trolley” while she interrupted him as he addressed the assembly.
