Hamza Ghanchi becomes 3rd youngest Pakistani to reach 300-mark in first-class cricket

KARACHI: Hamza Ghanchi, a 21-year-old batsman from Karachi, became the third youngest Pakistani to score a triple century in first class cricket here on Saturday.

Hamza is playing for Karachi Whites in the on-going Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He reached the magical figure of 300 at National Bank Sports Complex, on second day of game today against NBP.

He stayed on wicket for 654 minutes and faced 420 deliveries to complete his triple century before Karachi Whites declared the innings at 628/5.

Ghanchi’s innings included 32 boundaries.

Aged 21 years and 296 days, Hamza is third youngest Pakistani to score a first class triple century after Javed Miandad and Aftab Baloch.

Javed Miandad scored a triple century at the age of 17 and is considered to be the youngest to score a first class triple century.

It was only 14th innings of Hamza’s first class career, who made his debut in 2013 but was never a regular feature for any of Karachi’s teams, until this season.

His batting average before today’s unbeaten triple century was merely 20.92 but jumped 42.35 after the memorable knock.

Talking exclusively to this correspondent after his magnificent innings, Hamza said that he’s confident of continuing with the form and to score more runs in matches to come.
