India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has reclaimed the top spot on the MRF Tyres ICC Player Rankings for Test Bowlers following his career-best 13-140 in the final Test against New Zealand.
Ashwin’s haul led India to a 321-run victory – their biggest in terms of runs, as the home team whitewashed the Black Caps 3-0. The off-spinner, who was named man of the series, bolted past England’s James Anderson and South Africa pacer Dale Steyn to regain the top spot which he had held at the end of 2015.
Meanwhile Australia skipper Steve Smith tops the ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen. India are at number one on the Test Team rankings, after reclaiming their spot from Pakistan who briefly held the top spot after drawing the Test series against England.
