PESHAWAR: ‘Extremely dangerous’ inmates in prisons in Peshawar will now be kept in barracks separate from the other regular inmates, sources privy to the matter said on Thursday.

Every prison will be divided into three sections, with one reserved for extremely dangerous inmates, another for convicted prisoners, and the third for inmates involved in petty crimes, the sources said.

They said the decision to divide the prisons into separate barracks was taken to improve security measures at the prisons. There are in total 25 jails across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
