Mastermind of three bombings in Shikarpur spotted

KARACHI: Investigative agencies have spotted Abdul Hafeez Pandrani, a local person of Shikarpur, as the mastermind of three suicide bombings in the district, including an attack on Eidul Azha.

Pandrani, whose name is now atop the ‘most wanted terrorists list’, is stated to be an active member of the banned terrorist outfit Lakskar-e-Jhangvi. He belongs to a village near the Shikarpur city.

More than 60 people were killed in three separate suicide attacks. On May 1, 2013 a famous politician and former MNA Ibrahim Jatoi escaped unharmed in a suicide bombing in the Shikarpur district, which left two people wounded.

On January 30, 2015 an explosion inside an Imambargah in Shikarpur believed to be a suicide attack left at least 60 people dead and 60 others injured.

On September 13 this year, a suicide attack was foiled but one of the bombers, identified as Abdur Rehman, and a policeman were killed while one bomber Usman Yousufzai was arrested in Khanpur, the main town of Shikarpur district. Sources told The News that many evidences had been found against Abdul Hafeez Pandrani.
