KARACHI: The number of deaths resulting from the Congo virus has risen to nine in the city.
On Sunday, a patient Muhammad Nasir died at the local hospital. The patient a resident of Model Colony was in critical condition.
Of the nine deaths in Karachi, four are from the city, two each from Bahawalpur and Afghanistan and one from elsewhere in Sindh. 64 people have tested positive for the virus.
Experts said Congo fever is a deadly viral disease which is spread through tick bites found on animals and people who deal with dairy farming and livestock are likely to get infected and carry the virus. As the Congo infected person can infect other people therefore strict precautionary measures are necessary.
