QUETTA: The deadly terrorist attack on Police Training College Quetta, which left 61 recruits dead and over 100 wounded late last night, has highlighted serious security lapses that resulted in yet another tragedy linked to Quetta.

The police cadets present at the training facility had no firearms, whereas the mud-made boundary wall of the center was also broken and of low height. The attackers managed to storm the facility through the broken wall.

Firstly, a mud wall - that too broken - could be nothing, but an open invitation to terrorists. What else a mud wall, that too broken, could be other than an open invitation to terrorists?

Irony is that the IG Balochistan had directed the attention of authorities towards the issue and had asked the Balochistan CM for funds for the repair of dilapidated boundary wall. But, the chief minister delayed in keeping his word.

Even if one turns his eyes away from the wall, the hundreds of cadets present at the facility had no firearms to engage with the terrorists.

The attack left at least 61 security personnel martyred and 117 others wounded, when terrorists stormed the Police Training College located on Quetta's Sariab Road late Monday night.

The assailants had entered the hostel of the center and fired at the recruits point-blank.
