QUETTA: Bodies of the martyrs of the Police Training Centre Carnage were sent to their hometowns for burial on Wednesday.
Due to shortage of ambulances some bodies were transported in passenger vans to Zhob and Pishin.
Quetta is gripped under a wave of gloom, a day after 61 security personnel embraced martyrdom and 117 were injured, when three terrorists entered the police training centre and carried out two suicide attacks.
The government of Balochistan has announced three days of mourning after the attack: educational institutes and businesses have closed down. Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced a day of mourning.
The national flag at government buildings was flown at half-mast.
Pakistan Bar Council has boycotted the courts on Wednesday. The chief justice Sindh High Court has discharged all boards. Important cases will be heard in their respective chambers.
Investigation teams formed
Teams for the investigation of the attack have been formed under the supervision of SSP Investigation Aitzaz Goraya.
Initial investigation has revealed that weapons used in the attack was foreign-made. Terrorists also used a hand grenade and C4 chemical. A Kalashnikov, pistols and bullets used by terrorists have been recovered from the blast site.
The investigation team is taking assistance from the Punjab Forensic Department.
700 policemen were inside the training centre when the attack took place late Monday night. IG FC Major General Sher Afgun informed the press that the attackers acted on directions from Afghanistan and the initial investigation suggests that the terrorists were affiliated with the outlawed Lashkar-e- Jhangvi Al Almi militant group.
