Case registered against Ali Amin Gandapur for 'illegal possession of weapons, liquor'

ISLAMABAD: A case has been registered against KPK Minister for revenue and estate and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur under provision of 'illegal possession of weapons and liquor', police revealed on Monday.

Police on Sunday had stopped Ali Amin from entering Imran Khan's residence at Bani Gala and seized a large cache of weapons from the PTI leader's car. Among the objects recovered were AK-47, repeaters, bullets, tear gas shells and a liquor bottle. Bullet-proof jackets belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police were also found in his car.

The case was registered by sub-inspector Mohammad Younus, police said.

'Weapons not illegal, liquor bottle had honey in it'

Ali Amin Gandapur on Sunday said that the weapons recovered were not illegal, adding the bottle did not have liquor but honey.

In an exclusive talk with Geo News, Ali Amin Gandapur said that one SMG was his personal licensed gun and it was not illegal.

Those 500 rounds were mine too, he added.

The PTI leader denied that he had guards in his car, saying those were police officials.

Islamabad police began arresting PTI workers on way to Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence today.

PTI leaders Ali Amin Gandapur and Chaudhry Sarwar were stopped by police from entering Bani Gala and workers present in their entourage were detained. At least 20 to 25 party workers were detained at Simly Dam Road. The workers’ vehicles were also transferred to police stations.

PTI leader Shireen Mazari was also prevented from reaching Bani Gala by police.

There is reportedly a heavy presence of police on all routes leading to Bani Gala. Police also carried out shelling at Pakistan Chowk and Bani Gala on Sunday.
